Important update regarding taxi staging & noise barriers - Nov. 28th 2011

Taxi staging on Canda Malting property:

This project has been through many revisions and is now poised to begin construction shortly. This space - cleared by the demolition of the ancillary buildings of the Canada Malting property - will serve as a taxi staging area and relieve the congestion on Eireann Quay. The TPA has secured a three year lease for the property. The initial layout will probably be revised when construction is finished on the new boardwalk on the eastern side of the Canada malting silos.

The land will ultimately be developed by Build Toronto. Discussions are underway to place the taxi staging area underground as a permanent solution to the congestion.

Construction has begun on the first of two noise barriers. The north side barrier, pictured above, will be completed in February. Construction on a second barrier will be begin in the spring. Hopefully this will begin to address some of the ongoing noise problems experienced by many BQ residents.
